Accessibility
A better site should work for more people.
The NRC website is built around semantic HTML, keyboard access, visible focus, responsive layouts, reduced-motion support and strong color contrast.
Target: WCAG 2.2 AA
Accessibility commitment
NRC is committed to making its website usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including visitors using assistive technology, keyboard navigation, zoom and alternative input methods. WCAG 2.2 AA is the practical baseline for launch and ongoing content work.
Design standards in this site
- Semantic heading and landmark structure
- Keyboard-operable navigation, menus and site search (Ctrl or Command + K)
- Visible focus indicators
- Alternative text for meaningful images
- Responsive layouts that do not depend on hover
- Respect for the browser's reduced-motion setting. With it on, the homepage film becomes a single still frame and all copy stays readable.
- Color contrast designed for readability
- Interactive moments, like the press-and-hold loop on the homepage, never block access to links
